THE Pakistani Community Centre in Glodwick has hosted an event to raise awareness of disability, mental health and carers’ issues.
The Disability Awareness Day was held at the Marlborough Street site as part of the Festival of Diversity.
It was organised to advise people on how they can access services
The Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Shoab Akhtar, attended the event which included a range of information stands with professionals on hand to offer advice. There were also workshops, music and a variety of foods to try.
The executive director for adult and community services, Veronica Jackson, commented: “Events such as these enable and empower people from many diverse backgrounds to gain a common understanding that disability and mental health problems can affect anyone in society.”
