Jury views road

A MAIN road into Oldham town centre was closed for thirty minutes yesterday so a judge and jury could view the scene of a fatal accident.
The trial of Ghulum Hussain (28) — who denies causing death by dangerous driving — was suspended at Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester while the party went on a visit to Ashton Road to see the spot. It was shut at the junction of Copster Hill Road at 9.30am but police say it did not cause traffic problems.
Craig Borland (19), of Greengate, died on July 27 last year when he was hit as he crossed the road.
Hussain, of Milnrow Road, Shaw, is alleged to have been speeding at up to 70mph in a bus lane as he raced another car, before hitting Craig at 53mph in a 30mph zone.
