Dream team plan a perfect garden
Date published: 15 August 2008
OLDHAM College students have teamed up with a Fitton Hill care home to create a colourful haven for residents to while away the hours.
Cassy Bland is activities co-ordinator at Treelands, and it is her job to encourage residents to enjoy activities both inside and outside the home.
She enlisted the help of students on a landscaping course, and the result, she said, are plans for “a magnificent garden.”
Cassy is now appealing to local businesses to support the cause.
She is on the hunt for an exhaustive list of materials, including gravel, block paving, bricks, sand, cement, breeze blocks, edgings, paving, a pump and pond liner, soil, plants and trees, garden furniture and ornaments. She has sent a letter out to local businesses appealing for help, saying it would make a massive difference to the lives of the people she helps to care for.
Anyone who can help can contact Cassy or one of her colleagues at the home on 0161-626 7173 or email her on cassybland@btinternet.com
