ALL-ENGLAND champions . . . the Collettes Dance Troupe
HOLLINWOOD’S Collettes Dance Troupe made all the right moves to become the all-England Champions.
The senior team scooped the title in a competition in Fleetwood — the latest in a series of trophies.
Forty teams were competing in the competition with the seniors, 13 girls aged over 15, outperforming 12 other sides.
Anne Melia, who runs the troupe with her son Gary, said: “It’s quite an achievement as it’s a couple of years since we have been at the top of the ladder.
“But they have done really well this year and got quite a few firsts. We also recently won the Jack Nichols Memorial Trophy at Northwich and that was a very hard competition. To win was a great achievement.”
The troupe, which has been running for 47 years, also has a tots’ section, and has 60 members in total.
It started at Cannon Street but has been practising at Beulah Baptist Church, Hollinwood, for the last nine years.
Anne added: “My parents formed the troupe and I took over when they died.”
