THE A-level pass rate of pupils in the borough’s school sixth-forms hit 96.9 per cent this year, according to Oldham Council.
The overall results for Blue Coat, Crompton House North Chadderton and Our Lady’s schools are below the national figure of 97.2 per cent.
They exclude Oldham Sixth Form College and Hulme Grammar Schools, which posted pass rates of at least 99 per cent.
The proportion of A grades in Oldham’s schools was 17.9 per cent, compared with 25.3 per cent nationally. B grades rose to 23.9 per and C grades are up to 27 per cent.
Blue Coat is also in the top 30 comprehensives nationally for the average point score of students at A-level, in a list compiled by the Independent newspaper
The national pass rate rose for the 26th consecutive year with analysts pointing to a North-South divide in results. The three worst performing regions were the North-West, North-East, and Yorkshire and Humberside. The best were the South-East, South-West and London.
Councillor Kay Knox, cabinet member for children, young people and families, congratulated students, staff and parents on their hard work.
