Six divers in sea rescue drama
Date published: 18 August 2008
SIX divers from Oldham have been rescued in rough seas after their boat engine cut out off the coast of the Farne Islands in Scotland.
Both Seahouses lifeboats were launched after the Humber Coastguard reported that the Dive RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) “Cardrews” was adrift and was requesting assistance.
Five of the divers were taken aboard an all-weather lifeboat and their vessel was taken in tow to Seahouses, in the lee of the land to keep out of the rougher water.
Two of the divers were suffering from sea sickness.
On reaching Seahouses, the boat was towed away for repair by its crew.
