Drug dealer will be tested in prison

A drug dealer has agreed to undergo random dope testing in jail after he was caught with a haul of cannabis worth up to £8,000.
Stephen Kay (26), of Milnrow Road, Shaw, was cultivating the drug for his own use and also to supply to his friends.
Kay was also found in possession of drug paraphernalia, but insisted it was for his own use.
At Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester, Kay was jailed for 12 months after admitting possessing drugs with intent to supply and cultivating cannabis.
He has agreed to go on a drug-free wing of the jail and undergo routine testing for narcotics while serving his sentence.
Passing sentence, Judge Bernard Lever said: “I take into account that you were going to sell to friends.
“Despite having a good work record you have allowed yourself to slip into an alternative lifestyle.”
Philip Parry, defending, said: “He was offered the opportunity to stop paying out for the drug and grow his own supply.
“That was the sole motivation for setting up the endeavour.
“He did not intend to make a profit out of this venture. He would be selling it to one or two friends.
“He is thoroughly ashamed of finding himself here.”
