Villagers are aiming to light up Delph with a party in the park for the third year running.
The Wake Up Delph Committee is now putting the finishing touches to plans for event on Saturday, September 20. It will be held at the Delph and Dobcross Cricket Club (4pm-9.30pm) and proceeds will help to light up Delph at Christmas.
Organisers say the party will feature some top class entertainment, hosted by Gilbert Symes and featuring Delph Band, well known local singer Morgan, female vocalist Sally Jaxx and top tribute band the “Kings of Queen”.
The evening will end with a grand finale of Last Night of the Proms with all the traditional tunes and a fireworks display.
Spokeswoman for the Wake Up Delph Committee Pam Preston said: “This is our major fund-raising event of the year and we are grateful to everyone who helps make this a special day for Delph. All monies raised will once again fund the Delph Christmas Lights display.”
Currently there are 200 tickets left for the event and they are available from post offices in Delph and Uppermill or ring the ticket hotline on 07858-606139.
