Married to fund-raising: money-making tour of local pubs
Here come the brides . . . and bridesmaids and even a bridegroom, all in the good cause of charity.
Drinkers were seeing brides at the double and treble as dinner ladies from Propps Hall Primary School in Failsworth dug out their wedding dresses, and friends and daughters put on their bridesmaids’ outfits, for a tour of 17 Failsworth pubs.
They set off from the Millgate in Ashton Road West and, with generous support from patrons and landlords, collected £750 for The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital at Pendlebury.
The money was raised in memory of Gemma Born, niece of Propps Hall dinner lady Marian Young, who died after treatment at the hospital in 2002.
The dinner ladies and friends, in their wedding and bridesmaids dresses, pictureds at the start of their charity trek.
