YOUNGSTERS had a muddy good time as they got stuck into the rugger at a summer camp.
Oldham Sports Development held the last of its rugby coaching sessions this week at Waterhead Rugby Club. Earlier in the month it held similar rugby camps at Stoneleigh Park, Derker and Churchill Playing Fields, Saddleworth.
Thirty lads, aged eight to 13, attended the camps in total, getting coaching and information about the sport and local teams.
Community Rugby League coach Danny Knight said: “We worked with the three main rugby clubs, Waterhead, Saddleworth Rangers and St Anne’s. The aim was to put something on for the children in the community so if they had never played rugby before they could try it out or have something to do over the holidays.
“It’s been a big success and everyone enjoyed it. Some have been to all three camps.”
