MEDAL WINNER . . . Liam Charnock in action on the hockey pitch
A Denshaw teenager has come away with a bronze medal from a major roller hockey event in Philadelphia.
Liam Charnock (13) from Corbett Lane was competing in the Amateur Athletics Youth Competition and captained the Great Britain team.
And the international connection will continue after Christmas when Liam flies to Oaksville in Canada to compete at ice hockey in the junior Olympics for England, followed by a trip to Latvia.
But competing has become something of a way of life for the Saddleworth school pupil.
Mum Deborah said: “Liam really enjoys taking part and we are pleased he has done so well.
“But it is expensive to take part and backing from outside organisations would be a big help. We can be contacted on 07739 584 888.”
