A FATHER-OF-TWO who turned to drink after suffering from depression was found hanged at his home in Hollins.
Gary Dickinson (41), of Hollins Road, was discovered hanging from a banister at around 7am on September 14.
An Oldham inquest heard yesterday that the deceased, who worked for Securicor, suffered from post-traumatic stress after being held up at gunpoint during a bank robbery 10 years ago.
He subsequently left the job and became a home help in Manchester.
His widow, Paula, described him as a “family man” said on the night before his death, she did not notice a change in his behaviour.
But she was awoken by her 15-year-old son, who discovered his father hanging from the banister the next day.
Deputy Coroner, Elaine Maloney, ruled out any third party involvement and stated that the deceased took his own life while suffering from a depressive illness.
