£3,000 haul recovered

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a burglary at a shop in which £3,000 of cigarettes were stolen and recovered after a police chase.
Raiders entered the Co-op late shop in Middleton Road, Chadderton, just before midnight and escaped in a stolen white Micra as police arrived. But officers followed the vehicle to Collyhurst, where the raiders abandoned it and fled, leaving behind their haul.
Police say the car was reported stolen from an address on Westfield Street, Chadderton, minutes before the burglary.
