Social care aims to get better
Date published: 25 August 2008
OLDHAMERS are being invited to have a say on health and social care services in a bid to improve standards.
The Oldham Local Involvement Network (LINk) is launching “networks of network” at the Link Centre, Union Street, on September 22.
The event aims to bring the general public together with organisations and groups who want to improve health and social care services in Oldham and has legal powers to influence the commissioners of local statutory services. As a progression of the Patient and Public Involvement in Health Forums, LINk formally brings the public scrutiny of health and social care together for the first time so that the public’s experience of using both types of services can benefit from a more co-ordinated approach to their care.
LINk hopes to go out to the most vulnerable and least likely to be able to influence such decisions to ensure that they are equally able to exercise their right to participate.
The afternoon session will run from 1-4pm, followed by a buffet and refreshments. An evening session will run from 5-8pm.
