Deputy county fire officer Keiran Nolan
A LEADING Greater Manchester fireman, whose patch used to include the Oldham stations, has been promoted to deputy county fire officer.
Kieran Nolan (45) was the area commander for Oldham, Rochdale, Bury and Tameside until 2003, when he became assistant county fire officer responsible for operations.
In 2003, he helped to co-ordinate hundreds of police, fire, ambulance and military staff when a major exercise involving a supposed chemical spill was held at the Robert Fletcher mill site in Greenfield.
He began his career in 1978 at Gorton station, and has been a firefighter, officer, fire-safety officer and also a training instructor.
Father-of-four Mr Nolan succeeds Tony Proctor, who is retiring after 39 years.
