Bridge closure talks go into extra time

Greenfield's controversial Ladhill Bridge
Oldham Council has extended the public consultation period over the closure of the historic Ladhill Bridge at Greenfield to September 12.
This follows a row over the planned closure which will make it more difficult for drivers to move from one side of the village to the other.
Bob Weedon, who uses the bridge regularly, said he believed there should have been more public consultation in the first place.
Mr Weedon, groundsman at Greenfield Cricket Club, which overlooks Ladhill, said: “It would help if a lot of people were able to drive over this bridge.
“Greenfield village extends quite a long way beyond the centre and the bridge helps them move from one area to another.”
