Two charity walkers rescued
Date published: 02 September 2008
TWO walkers who got into difficulty on an arduous organised hike were helped to safety on the moors above Saddleworth on Saturday.
Team members from Uppermill-based Oldham Mountain Rescue Team walked across the moors from Chew Reservoir to meet a young man and a middle-aged woman.
The man had injured his knee on the 25-mile fund-raising NSPCC walk around Woodhead and the woman was suffering from exhaustion.
The party then walked a mile back over the moor to a waiting Landrover. Neither the man nor the woman who were rescued needed hospital treatment.
