Ale and hearty
Date published: 03 September 2008
The mood should be ale and hearty in Uppermill this weekend for the 17th annual beer festival at the museum gallery.
Held on Friday, and Saturday, September 5 and 6, the festival will feature 10 local real ales.
The ales range from the brews of Timothy Taylors of Keighley to Shaw’s of Dukinfield, and beer from microbreweries in Greenfield, Mossley and Rochdale.
But the festival will be about music as well as the cream of the crop from the local beer world.
On Friday night, music will be provided by the Pennine Jazz Band who are already established as a popular group at the festival.
Live music will also be provided from 7.30pm onwards on the Saturday evening and the festival will stay open until 11pm.
The event is organised by the Friends of Saddleworth Museum and Art Gallery.
It is being sponsored by local pubs and breweries who are assisted by CAMRA (Rochdale, Oldham and Bury branch).
