Safe haven built for bats

A NEW Greenfield housing development will have a number of extra special features to make sure local plant and wildlife can live in harmony.
Greenfield Place will have a number of safe havens for bats and wetland for aquatic plants.
Developers Bardsley has enlisted the help of ecologist Pat Waring to ensure that the natural habitat is protected every step of the way.
There will also be extensive work on Chew Brook, which runs around the site’s perimeter, and Bardsley will also construct control walls as well as strengthening Ladhill Bridge, which runs into the development.
The properties will also be built around a belt of trees without the need to disturb or displace any of the nesting birds.
Graeme Spencer, development and sales manager at Bardsley, said: “Beginning a development in Saddleworth has brought about a number of exciting challenges and opportunities to preserve the delicate environment of Greenfield village.
“This is one of the more interesting and fulfilling areas of our work and we have gone to great lengths to ensure that trees, foliage and wildlife on the site are protected, while providing a range of superb homes to complement the rural setting.”
