Transport roadshow

OLDHAMERS can find out more about the proposed multi-billion-pound investment in public transport when an information roadshow stops in Shaw next week.

An exhibition detailing the £3 billion plans for Metrolink extensions, improvements to bus and rail networks and a peak-time congestion charge, will be at the Market Ground on September 11, from 11am-7pm.

There will also be a giant map outlining the finer points of the Transport Innovation Fund package and people will be given the chance to ask questions and voice their opinions in a “Big Brother”-style diary room.

Each of the 10 local authorities in Greater Manchester will host at least four roadshows.

Responses to the consultation will enable the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities to confirm details of the TIF proposals, including exact location of the congestion charge inner ring, precise position of the charging points around the outer ring and discounts for specific groups of drivers.

A full list of exhibition dates — and eventually the report on the consultation findings — can be found at www.gmfuturetransport.co.uk.
