GREENACRES mum Zoey Stansfield returned triumphant from a 10K run, and the promise of more than £400 to bring Christmas cheer to her patients.
The 35-year-old is a health visitor on ward F6 at the Royal Oldham Hospital, and wanted to put an end to the annual call on her colleagues’ pockets to treat patients at Christmas or on special occasions.
So Zoey (left) decided to take part in Saturday’s Blackpool Illuminations 10K run to build up a kitty for gifts and cards.
The charity runner has so far netted £400, with more coming in, and she has issued a big thank-you to everyone who contributed.
She said: “I’m not quite sure of the time I finished — I think it was 78 minutes — but it was never about the time, just about the fund-raising.”
Zoey, who lives with her family in Windermere Walk, trod in the footsteps of her marathon-runner father Stephen Corbett.
She said: “Many people feel isolated from friends, family and their usual routine when in hospital. It’s magnified on occasions like Christmas, birthdays or a wedding anniversary.
“Some patients have family and some don’t, and it’s nice just to be able to do a bit of something for them.”
