HEALTH bosses say two key re-appointments will help them meet the needs of patients.
Oldham Primary Care Trust (PCT) has announced that non-executive directors Tony Kane and Hannah Roberts are to stay on its board.
The move was welcomed by PCT chair Riaz Ahmad who said: “The non-executive directors have strong skills to help the PCT move forwards with all the challenges ahead.
“I am sure their commitment and support will continue to help put the PCT in a very strong position, ready to move into the future as one of the best PCTs in the country.”
Mr Kane is a former chief superintendent of Greater Manchester Police, while Mrs Roberts is a former chief executive of Greater Manchester Connexions. They have both been appointed by the Appointments Commission until autumn, 2012.
Mr Kane (55), a married father of two daughters from Coppice, spent 30 years in the force, including as a superintendent in Oldham, before retiring in 2006.
He said: “I’m particularly interested in performance management, IT and fairness and equality issues.
“I want to put something back into the community. Both my mother and sister have worked as nurses, so now I am retired I am keen to continue to play a part in the significant improvement which has been made in local health services.”
Mrs Roberts (51), who lives in Delph with her husband and son, set up the Greater Manchester Connexions service six years ago and was chief executive until March, 2006.
Since joining the PCT she has completed a graduate diploma in law at Huddersfield University and carries out freelance work — specialising in organisational development and children’s and young people’s services.
She said: “I have found the past two years very interesting and I welcome the opportunity to help shape the future of health services in Oldham and to do what I can to ensure the PCT continues to perform at a high level.”
Current remuneration for PCT non-executive directors is £7,765 a year.
