AN injured cyclist was stretchered off a lonely hillside by a mountain rescue team.
The 66-year-old, from Huddersfield, took a tumble while mountain-biking with his wife.
The accident happened below the Binn Green beauty spot near Dovestone Reservoir on Monday. The couple alerted emergency services and Oldham Mountain Rescue team, based in Saddleworth, were soon on the scene.
An air ambulance landed near by but was not needed as the 11-strong rescue team were able to stretcher the injured biker to safety.
Deputy leader of Oldham Mountain Rescue, Denzil Broadhurst, said: “The man did not seem to have anything broken.
“It was more ligament damage. But he was taken to hospital for treatment.”
