MEP John Whittaker - standing down
AN Oldham Euro-MP has decided to stand down as chairman of the UK Independence Party (UKIP).
John Whittaker, who will remain in the European Parliament, will be replaced by Merseyside man Paul Nuttall (31), who is the party’s youngest ever chairman.
His selection was announced at the party’s annual conference last weekend.
He is currently a political adviser to the Independence/ Democracy Group in the European Parliament.
In 2005, Mr Nuttall formed UKIP South Sefton branch on Merseyside and stood in the General Election later that same year.
He has been a history lecturer at both Hugh Baird College and Liverpool Hope University.
Mr Nuttall said: “I am delighted to have been given this chance to be chairman of the fourth largest political party in the country.”
