Date published: 11 September 2008
A series of local walks have been organised as part of the South Pennines Walk and Ride Festival.
The festival runs from Saturday to September 28 and features more than 80 walks and rides from gentle one or two-mile nature trails to a marathon 47-mile mountain bike ride.
In the Oldham borough, there will be a 10-mile walk on Sunday to explore transport routes across the moors.
Shaw and Crompton will be the venue of a six-mile ramble across the Beal Valley to Fulwood Nature Reserve and back on September 18.
Any Old Pots and Pans is a 12-mile journey from Greenfield to Pots and Pans and then on to Marsden on September 19.
Then there will be a Shaw and Crompton Circular — a 10-mile trek along the Crompton circuit on Monday, September 22.
Programmes for the festival can be obtained at www.oldham.gov.uk/south-pennine-walking-festival-2008.htm
