HUNDREDS of pounds of reward money is flooding in from as far as Greece in a bid to hunt down little Angel’s killers.

Two local residents and an ex-pat from Greece are offering a £650 reward after the tiny six-month-old kitten was kicked senseless by two callous thugs in Coldhurst — and lashed with a metal bike chain.

Angel (pictured left) was found last Friday. Although Vet Joanna Bednarska at County End Vets, High Street, Lees, battled to save her, she later died.

Judy Pass, practice manager at the vets described it as one of the worst cruelty cases she had come across and asked the RSPCA to carry out a full investigation.

Mike Bower, originally from Turf Lane, Chadderton, but now living in Parga, Greece, was rattled by the story when he saw it on the Chronicle website. He is offering a £200 reward for the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Mr Bower, who lives with his wife Elizabeth, says he hopes others will chip-in to the reward fund too.

The 47-year-old, who used to work for Greater Manchester Police, added: “I was really shocked to read these stories. They upset both of us. I feel so angry and want to do something about it.”

A Shaw pensioner, who did not want to be named, is also offering a £200 reward. The 85-year-old said: “I have a cat too and I was disgusted to read about the sickening attack on Angel.

“I can’t imagine someone would do this. It is horrendous and the story brought tears to my eyes. I hope the reward will help catch the killers.”

Another resident (54), of High Crompton, who wished to remain anonymous, is offering a £250 reward.

She added: “I recall some years ago in Coldhurst, a puppy being savagely beaten to death and a reward being offered but no prosecutions followed that incident.

“This is a genuine offer and wish I could offer more as people like this should be publicly shamed and heavily prosecuted.”
