A BURGLAR used his loft to break into the house next door and steal more than £1,000 worth of goods — including a boiler.
Jamie Albison (28), of Hollins Road, Oldham knew that the house next door was vacant. It was being renovated by Mark Hadley who discovered it had been burgled on April 17. Albison was arrested on April 18
Altogether he stole around £1,000 worth of goods, including steel kitchen fittings and a combi-boiler, Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court was told.
Albison was sentenced to 160 hours of unpaid work and is to pay £500 compensation.
Prosecuting, Sharon Amesu said: “ Messages were received on his (Albison’s) mobile phone and they said ‘Who we going to sell the gear to?’, ‘We not moving the stuff?’ and ‘I have sold the boiler for £200’.”
For the defendant, Phillip Parry said that the act was done out of desperation for his daughter. Albison has recently secured a court order that allows him to have his daughter fours days a week, he said.
He added: “ He was compelled to do this not for the money but for his daughter and for the fear that if he had no money that he would lose his daughter.”
