Date published: 22 September 2008
A fault in an overhead cable cut power to 1,600 homes in Saddleworth on Friday evening.
Around 500 homes near Saddleworth School in Uppermill were affected along with 1,100 in Diggle.
Power was restored within 25 minutes in Uppermill but it was nearly two hours before the supply was back on in Diggle.
Power was restored by re-routing the supply. Engineers are today still working on the faulty cable.
