Scaffolding crash shock
Date published: 23 September 2008
MASSES of metal and wooden hoardings came crashing to the ground on a busy Oldham Street this morning.
Police were called after scaffolding surrounding Howarth Timber in Shaw Road collapsed into Shaw Road and Stampstone Street, causing chaos for rush-hour commuters.
Stunned workers of near-by building and storage yards arrived to find the surrounding pavement littered with debris.
A shocked passer-by said: “It’s lucky no-one was caught up in it, because they would have died.”
