OLDHAMERS will be given the chance to learn about the work of the primary care trust and to help to shape the future of healthcare at the PCT’s annual meeting tomorrow.
It will give people the opportunity to find out how the PCT has acted on the public’s suggestions and to learn about how it is working with patients to develop new services and to vote on plans for the future.
People will also be able to cast their eye over displays which have been put together to demonstrate the work of staff across the PCT, including Oldham Community Health Services.
There will also be an update on a £100 million scheme to revamp healthcare across the borough, including an integrated care centre.
Gail Richards, chief executive of Oldham PCT, said: “While we do all we can to make sure people know what we are doing and to involve them in our plans, the annual meeting offers a fantastic opportunity to bring all this together.
“We have had a year filled with many achievements, some of which will be highlighted on the night and all of which reflect our aim of adding life to years and years to life.
“But we know there is still a long way to go and that what is vital is that we involve the public, patients and our partners every step of the way.”
The 2007-08 annual report will be launched, along with the results of the Open Portrait, which asked Oldhamers for their views on health and wellbeing
Riaz Ahmad, chairman of Oldham PCT, said: “It’s a great opportunity for people to find out what we have been doing.”
The meeting, which is open to all, will be held at Hotel Smokies Park, Bardsley, at 6.30pm.
Food and drink will be served from 5.45pm and also later in the evening for those who are observing Ramadan. A prayer room will be available.
