MEDLOCK VALE AREA COMMITTEE
POLICE have been focusing their efforts on anti-social behaviour in and around St Cuthbert’s Church which has suffered from vandalism in recent weeks.
There has also been a rise in the number of youths hanging around The Spur and Crossways in Fitton Hill, as well as a number of reports of drug dealers in cars behind houses in Coal Pitt Lane.
Other concerns include off-road bikers in Coal Pitt Lane, youths drinking alcohol at the car park behind the off licence at the junction of Ashton Road and Keb Lane in Bardsley and anti-social behaviour in the alleyway behind Simkin Way.
Area Police Inspector Alan Humphries said: “We have recovered a number of motorcycles in the area that should reduce the off-road bike problems.
“Also, the recent Operation Hokum saw the recovery of 70 cannabis plants with a street value of £20,000 from Hathershaw Gym.”
PCSOs will be holding drop-in sessions at Langham House in Ashton Road from 2pm every Thursday for local residents.
The next Medlock Vale Kinship meeting on local policing will be held on October 22 at 6pm at the Honeywell Centre in Hadfield Street.

THE committee welcomed new Neighbourhood Manager Zaiem Khan who replaces Shashi Mohandas.
Zaiem formerly held the same post in Failsworth and Hollinwood, while Shashi will take up the same post in East Oldham.
Zaiem will work closely with councillors Ged Ball, Ateeque Ur Rehman and Jean Jones.
He can be contacted by calling 0161-770 5162 or sending an e-mail to zaiem.khan@oldham.gov.uk .
Alleygate go-ahead
AN alleygate scheme in Bardsley which was delayed earlier this year has finally been given the go ahead. The gates will be put up in Simkin Way to help improve security for residents.

THE Medlock Vale area committee, which has replaced the former community council, has a total budget of £15,000 to spend on groups, organisations and projects in the whole community.
Its next meeting is at the Honeywell Centre, Hadfield Street, on November 27.
