Chance to win ten-year season ticket for two!

Date published: 26 September 2008

OLDHAM Athletic are giving loyal fans the chance to take part in a great Season Ticket Giveaway.

A special Crossbar Challenge will take place at home games with a mammoth prize as the goal — each lucky winner will pocket two season tickets for TEN years.

Yes, that’s right, a chance to watch Latics until the 2017/18 season FREE!

The chance of hitting the jackpot is being lined up in association with the Oldham Evening Chronicle, the club’s official media partner.

The challenge will involve six fans each matchday trying to hit the crossbar from around 40 yards.

Successful entrants will pick up the jackpot prize while everyone taking part will receive a Latics replica shirt.

The competition will get under way at the Hereford game which kicks off a 2pm on Sunday, October, 12, and continue until the end of the season, at least 18 league and cup matches.

A special coupon will be published in the Chronicle’s Tuesday night sports section (the first on October 7) and the names of four Chronicle readers will be drawn out and announced before the game to take part in the halftime Crossbar Challenge.

Two more supporters will be picked at random by club staff in the minutes before kick-off which means fans will have to be in the stadium to get the chance to win.

Latics have taken the exciting initiative to try to encourage more fans through the Boundary Park turnstiles and enhance the matchday experience.

The 10-year season ticket would cost just over £3,000 at today’s prices and if everyone who got through to the Crossbar Challenge hit the bar, the club would have to underwrite a bill of just under £700,000.

Marketing and commercial executive Richard Taylor explained: “We want to turn home games into an enjoyable matchday experience and see this as a way of providing supporters with a special day out for many years to come.”
