Data detective’s case adjourned again
Date published: 30 September 2008
THE case against an Oldham detective charged with data protection offences has been adjourned.
Det Sgt Alan Walker (44) appeared at Trafford Magistrates’ Court yesterday accused of 12 offences under the Data Protection Act.
He is yet to enter a plea but elected for his case to be heard at Crown Court.
The case was adjourned for a committal hearing at Trafford on November 10 and he had his bail extended. The maximum sentence for such offences is a fine.
The detective was arrested in January alongside his wife, Paula, a civilian worker based at Oldham Police Station, but in June it was decided no further action would be taken against her.
Det Sgt Walker is suspended from duty pending the outcome of the case. The couple used to live in Grotton but moved to Marsden.
