Little Eva Burke has been left in tears after losing her beloved cuddly toy.
Eva, (2), of Grotton, had been inseparable from her Scaredy Cat toy since it was bought as a Christening gift.
But it went missing during a weekend stroll in Uppermill and her family are desperate to find it.
Mum Jacqui Burke (46), of Hillside Avenue, Grotton, said: “We were walking in Uppermill on Saturday when Eva began to choke on a lollipop which had come off the stick.
“It was only after we calmed her down that we realised scaredy cat had gone.
“She has had him all her life, he comes everywhere with us and she is devastated to lose him.
“She’s asking for him all the time and it has been really difficult to get her to sleep at night.”
Mrs Burke has been back to Uppermill to post “missing” leaflets in the hope he will be found.
And she even contacted the German toy maker who produced it to buy a substitute, but they stopped making the toy in 2006.
Mrs Burke said: “It is a really odd thing and I think was made for adults. It has huge black hands, no fur, and is brown with black spots, tiny stitched eyes and thin whiskers.”
The toy is believed to have been lost on the High Street or on Court Street heading towards the civic hall.
Anyone who may have seen the toy should call 0161-633 2728.
