STUCK . . . the dog is wedged behind box
THIS curious canine was really in the doghouse when it had to be rescued by fire fighters.
The dozy dog was left feeling a bit “wuff” when it got its head stuck between a gable wall and a metal cable box in Greenacres.
A passer-by spotted the pooch at the corner of Buller Street and Beresford Street shortly before 7.30am yesterday and rang the fire service for help.
Fiive officers from Oldham station used hydraulic separators to free the animal within minutes.
But it didn’t stick around to thank its rescuers and Watch Commander Rick Cummings said: “As soon as the gap was wide enough, it popped its head out and ran off.
“It ran up the street for about 100 metres, turned round to look at us to see what we were doing and then ran off.”
The fast exit prevented firefighters from getting a look at its dog tag to trace its owner.
Mr Cummings thanked the man who discovered the animal and waited in the rain for the crew to arrive.
