Rugby: heart led to death
Date published: 02 October 2008
A POST-MORTEM examination has revealed Oldham Rugby Union Club player Bob Simpson’s sudden death was caused by heart failure.
The 40-year-old prop forward, a first-team squad member, died in the early hours of Tuesday at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, hours after being admitted with a chest infection.
As a mark of respect, the club has cancelled all its senior games on Saturday, although the players have requested to meet at 3pm at Manor Park to pay tribute to Bob.
The funeral will take place at Oldham Crematorium, Hollinwood, on Tuesday at 2pm.
