Primary schools to merge
Date published: 08 October 2008
TWO Church of England primary schools in Oldham will close on April 1 and amalgamate.
St Stephen and All Martyrs Infant and Nursery School in Shaw Street, and the Parish Church Junior School in Horsedge Street, currently operate as two voluntary aided schools.
They are only a few hundred yards apart and governors have decided to replace them with a 420-place school, with 30 full-time nursery places.
There have been no objections to the publication of the closure plans, and the new school will operate from the existing sites.
