New-look trams bid to improve safety
Date published: 09 October 2008
NEW-LOOK Metrolink trams have been ordered and are costing just over £2 million each.
They will run on the existing Metrolink network, as well as new lines to Oldham and Rochdale, Droylsden, Chorlton and Media CityUK at Salford Quays.
Councillor Knowles, chairman of GMPTA’s development and operations committee, said: “The Metrolink network is now more than 16 years old but the new trams will take it firmly into the 21st century.”
Forty new Metrolink trams, due to arrive next year, are yellow at the front and silver at the sides, in a bid to improve visibility and road safety.
