LIBRARIANS Gillian Clark, Janet Reid and Janet Baker prepare for Wednesday openings
THE increasingly popular Delph Library is expanding its service and opening on Wednesdays.
At present the library which was reopened by the community after it was shut by the council, is open four half days a week. But increased demand for books and other items has persuaded leaders to open on Wednesday afternoon and early evenings as well.
Chief librarian Janet Baker said: “Our library was saved by the community three and a half years ago and it is going well, run by a team of volunteers. There is also better co-operation with Oldham Council.”
Library’s temporary home
LEES Library will reopen to the public in a temporary portable cabin on Monday.
The cabin will be on library car park for the next six months as work begins on the new Lees Library Community Hub project.
The library will be extended to create a new building including a flexible community space and extended IT facilities for use by a wide range of local groups and organisations.
The Library opening hours are: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 9.30am-7pm, Tuesday and Friday 9.30am-5pm and Saturday 9.30am-1pm.
