POPPY sellers are gearing up for Remembrance Sunday on November 9.
Oldham organiser Norman Bennett says poppies will be on sale from the usual outlets in pubs, clubs, offices, shops and schools.
The Oldham Poppy Shop in Eldon Street precinct will be open for organisations to collect wreaths on November 1 and 8, from 11 am to noon. The Festival of Remembrance, organised by the Liaison of Ex-Servicemen, will be at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on November 7.
Armistice Day, November 11, will be marked with an assembly of veterans in Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre. A two-minute silence will be observed at 11am.
