Shaw and Crompton Parish Council meeting
COUNCILLORS are considering being more generous with the grants they distribute to worthy causes.
The grants sub-committee is reviewing the top amount it usually pays with members wanting to raise it from £200 to £250.
But this could increase the amount dished out each year from £3,000 to £3,750, so the number of beneficiaries may have to be cut.
A decision will be made once it becomes clearer how many grant applications there are.
Councillor Rod Blyth was reassured that there is scope to go above the top amount.
Councillors will also look to give out lists of additional funding schemes to applicants.
The parish council agreed to give a grant of £200 to Beal Vale School toward buying pom-poms for the cheerleaders and its dancing group.
