WHISTLING CHAMP: David Morris
A DOBCROSS celebrity is hoping a new CD will whistle up a classical storm.
David Morris, a former world champion whistler, will release his third recording next month in the wake of two earlier triumphs.
He said: “The album is packed with favourite classical tunes which are guaranteed to get any classical music lover’s feet tapping.”
Previously, Dave recorded two performances with the BBC Concert Orchestra for BBC Radio Two’s “Friday Night is Music Night”
He said: “It was a simple move to record my next selection of best-loved ballads and arias with clean melodies to an orchestral accompaniment.
“A friend of mine is trumpeter and we got some other professional musicians together who played a session to record my album. It was a live orchestra.
“I’m convinced it will be a hit with classical music fans and anyone who just loves music. I have included many old favourites – and some challenging pieces too.”
The album includes Rusalka’s “Song to the Moon”, Elgar’s “Salut d’Amour”, “The Flight of the Bumblebee” and John Stanley’s “Trumpet Voluntary”.
Dave, who is also a conductor, took the US-based world whistling championships by storm four years ago and since then he has made regular appearances across America and worldwide.
The arrangements for his latest CD are by Mike Briggs of Madcap Music, and the album will go sale on November 1 from outlets around Dobcross and on David’s website:
