Teachers swap ideas from around Europe

GLOBETROTTING teachers are bringing an international flavour to Fir Bank School.
The visitors from Greece and Sweden and another from North Yorkshire, arrived at the Royton primary to spend three days sharing ideas and promoting friendship. The trip is part of the Comenius project and is funded by the British Council.
As well as spending time shadowing and talking to staff, the teachers’ itinerary includes visits to Hollingworth Lake and Oldham Coliseum, a canal boat trip in Uppermill and a civic date with Mayor of Oldham Councillor Shoab Akhtar.
Fir Bank head teacher Hazel Mackay said: “This is a valuable experience for both pupils and staff.
“Our aim is to help raise standards across the curriculum by giving our pupils and teachers a better understanding of teaching and learning in other countries. By sharing good practice we can make a positive contribution to benefit school life.”
