Bruno books Oldham date

BOXER Frank Bruno will be in Oldham on Sunday for a one-man audience.
The former WBC heavyweight title-holder is making a foray into smaller venues and his first appearance is in Oldham.He is being brought here by promoter Carl Spiers. Ken Naylor of the Candlelight Club will host the event.
Frank held his version of the world championship in 1995, after beating Oliver McCall. He won 40 of his 45 contests, 38 by knockout.
After he retired from the ring in 1996, he was well known for starring in pantomime and was a television favourite.
In 2003 he was diagnosed with mental illness after the break-up of his marriage, and was treated for depression.
Now, Frank is well enough to be a boxing commentator and guest expert for the BBC.
Ken Naylor said: “We have had some big stars at the Candlelight, and this weekend we’re delighted to have Frank Bruno.”
The support act is Gary Skyner, a thalidomide victim, who is now a comedian, and inspirational speaker.
