Daughter, 7, phones 999 after her dad tumbles down stairs

LITTLE Chloe Haines didn’t panic when her daddy was knocked unconscious after falling down stairs.

Instead the seven-year-old of Osmond Street, Greenacres, calmly dialled 999 and knew exactly what to tell the operator.

Thanks to her quick thinking, an ambulance arrived in no time. Mark (34), thankfully escaped with nothing more serious than a couple of bruises.

Chloe has now been nominated for a Pride in Oldham Award and proud mum Sarah (30) said: “Mark just got up and felt really funny. He fell down stairs and knocked himself unconscious. I was at work and Chloe rang for an ambulance. She did not panic or anything, she was dead calm, that’s why we are so amazed with her. She knew her address and she just rang and said my ‘daddy’s fallen over’.”

Mark, a service manager for a vending company, did not need to go to hospital and it is not known what caused the fall.

Sarah thinks Chloe knew what to do from watching TV shows and the youngster was presented with a St John Ambulance junior lifesaver award at her school, St Anne’s RC, Greenacres.

Reception class teacher Susan Clegg nominated her for Pride in Oldham and said: “We just feel so proud of her. She is a lovely little girl, very unassuming, and has lots of friends. She is very popular.”
