Young readers are in the zone

YOUNG football fans are being encouraged to pick up a book as well as a ball and read more this half term.
Laticzone, Oldham Libraries and Oldham Athletic Community Trust are holding a special event next Tuesday to celebrate the National Year of Reading.
It takes place at the Laticzone Playing for Success Centre at Boundary Park, starting at 6.45pm.
Young readers can register with libraries at the centre then choose a book to borrow from a selection based on a love of sport.
Chaddy the Owl will be supporting the event and all those registering on the night will go into a prize draw to win signed Latics goodies.
Four more schools are to take part in the healthy breakfast club initiative run by Oldham Athletic’s Community Trust.
Following next week’s half-term holiday, the clubs will be held at Alexandra Park, Medlock Valley, Roundthorn and St Hilda’s primary schools.
The events, which sees trust staff promoting healthy breakfast options and exercise sessions in partnership with Oldham Healthy Schools and Oldham Community Health Services, have already proved popular at Watersheddings, Mayfield, St Martin’s and Holy Rosary.
