NEED help staging a charity fashion show, want your school playground brightened up with a mural or are you desperate to have a grot spot transformed into a community garden?
Oldham College is looking for a community project for its talented students and staff to carry out and is teaming up with the Oldham Evening Chronicle to pick a worthy winner.
The Skills Challenge aims to prove how much can be completed in a short space of time, from a day to a week. It is part of National Colleges Week which runs from November 10 to 16 and has the theme colleges change lives.
Oldham College principal Kath Thomas said: “This is the first time that The Oldham College will be part of colleges week and we look forward to planning and delivering our Oldham challenge.
“This is a fantastic example of how The Oldham College and the Oldham public can work together to achieve great things.”
Oldham Evening Chronicle Editor Jim Williams said: “We are delighted to join the college in this enterprise.
“It further cements the splendid college at the heart of the community it serves and offers a great opportunity for schools, groups or individuals to tackle that project they have always wanted to see brought to life.”
People with a suggestion for an Oldham challenge should send a brief description to the Oldham Evening Chronicle, 172 Union Street, Oldham, OL1 1EQ or e-mail editorial@oldham-chronicle.co.uk
The closing date is Tuesday (Oct 28) and the winner will be chosen by a joint team from the college and the Chronicle.
The challenge will be completed during colleges week and all materials and labour will be provided by college. Details of the chosen project will be featured in the Chronicle.
