A POLICE officer was badly injured during the arrest of five armed robbers in Nantwich, Cheshire.
The arrests were made just before 10.30am yesterday as part of an on-going operation targeting armed robbers.
Officers from GMP’s serious and organised crime division conducted a strike on a Saab just outside Nantwich town centre.
But the driver of the car mounted the kerb and drove at a police officer, who was struck and his foot broken. A short pursuit then followed and all five men were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. The driver was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They remain in police custody for questioning.
Witnesses are asked to contact police on 0161-872 5050 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
