GHOST hunters are really hoping something could go bump in the night when a top spook sleuth drops into the Stanedge Tunnel and Visitor Centre at Hallowe’en.
British Waterways are encouraging would-be ghost hunters to booking for the special spooky event on Friday next week.
David Vee, a legendary spook-seeker, and members of his paranormal team, will be encouraging locals to take a detailed tour of the tunnel.
They will share a mysterious and spine-chilling journey by narrowboat into the country’s longest, highest, deepest and eeriest waterway in their quest for all things creepy.
Visitors who can hold their nerve will explore inside the haunted tunnel before venturing to the visitor centre itself for a vigil to connect with the other side.
David has dedicated his life to researching and documenting paranormal activity and admits to having seen over 3,000 ghosts.
He founded Ghosts-UK 21 years ago and began investigating paranormal activity in various haunted locations around the country.
He said: “The Stanedge event is a great opportunity for anyone who is curious about ghosts to get an understanding of what we do.
“Stanedge is a great prospect for us as it has real history and an air of mystery. I picked up on some activity around the site when I last visited, particularly in the tunnel, so I can’t wait to lead people on this journey and see what we can discover.”
Younger spook-seekers will be able to take part in a series of daily Hallowe’en themed boat trips, from Wednesday until October 31st.
James Dean, visitor services manager at the centre said: “Everyone who took part last year had a great time and were suitably spooked by the night trip into the tunnel and the vigils.
“During the construction of the tunnel, around 50 navvies lost their lives due to the dangerous working conditions. So who knows, they may have decided to make the tunnel their home.”
The haunting experience with David starts at 9pm, finishing at 2:00am and costs £40 per head.
Places for the spook trip, and the other themed activities, can be reserved by contacting the Stanedge team on 01484 844298.
People attending the fright night must be over 16-years-old and will need to bring warm clothing and footwear. Food and drink is available from the café.
