IMMIGRATION minister Phil Woolas.
THE new immigration minister Phil Woolas will not appear on tonight’s “Question Time” — but is expected to take the hot seat in the next few weeks.
The Oldham East and Saddleworth MP was due to be on tonight’s show broadcast at 10.30 on BBC1.
But now, work and pensions minister Tony McNulty is expected to appear to talk about the economic downturn.
Mr Woolas said: “The Westminster village likes nothing more than a conspiracy, however the fact is that ministers get dozens of TV bids every day.
“I have a reception at No 11 Downing Street with Oldhamers and will be on ‘Question Time’ in the next few weeks.”
Conspiracies circulating Westminster last night included Mr Woolas had been gagged because of recent headlines over immigration. But the Oldham MP said he will be appearing on the “World at One” radio show talking about the British National Party later today.
